The Cooperative Difference

There’s a reason that Gold-Eagle Cooperative has become one of the most successful grassroots organizations around. In fact, there are thousands of reasons—our members.

In many ways, a cooperative is like a multi-generational farm. Its success depends on careful management, a commitment to stand the test of time and an emphasis on the power of partnerships.

The Gold-Eagle Story

Since our very first legacy cooperative began in 1908, we’ve been grounded in one of the most productive agricultural regions of the world. With humble beginnings rooted in north-central Iowa, our footprint now spans 20 locations, including south-central Minnesota as well. Built on the philosophy that we all prosper by helping one another, Gold-Eagle proudly offers updated facilities, modern technology and a wide range of products and services related to grain, agronomy, energy and feed. On top of our four departments, Gold-Eagle adds value to our members through our partnership with the CORN, LP ethanol plant. We reflect on our history as the day we struck gold, but the efficiency and dedication we show to our members is what truly creates a golden relationship.

Cooperative Timeline

Recalling the Day We Struck Gold

1908
In North-Central Iowa, local farmers banded together in 1908 to form the Farmers Elevator Company of Goldfield. From those humble beginnings, Gold-Eagle Cooperative has been united for more than 30 years to serve area growers’ needs.
1983
On September 1, 1983, the merger of the Farmers Elevator Company of Goldfield and Farmers Cooperative Company of Eagle Grove unleashed the power of partnerships. Creating value has long been an inherently cooperative process at Gold-Eagle.
2004
In July of 2004, we moved in a new direction when we launched an equity drive to build an ethanol plant in Goldfield. After raising the necessary equity, CORN, LP broke ground in October 2004. December 2005, ethanol production began at the plant, which consumes roughly 60,000 bushels (400 acres) of corn per day and has 40 full-time employees.
2019
North Central Cooperative’s membership voted in favor of a unification with Gold-Eagle. On October 1, 2019, North Central’s Clarion, Holmes, Kanawha, Hutchins, Woden, and Galt Feedmill locations and membership became a welcome addition to Gold-Eagle Cooperative.
2024
In 2024, we expanded to include our first location in Minnesota when Farmers Coop Association of Forest City's three locations joined with Gold-Eagle. These locations include Forest City, Leland, and Kiester, MN. That same year, we also added Thompson to round out Gold-Eagle's locations to twenty.

BEYOND GRAIN STORAGE

Ethanol Production with CORN, LP

In 2004, Gold-Eagle diversified our grain handling to go beyond storage by creating the foundation of an ethanol plant, CORN, LP. Ethanol production began in 2005 and continues to be an asset to our business and the community, consuming around 60,000 bushels of corn per day and employing 40 full-time team members. Between CORN, LP and our feed department, Gold-Eagle is able to consume all of the corn our customers produce—a tremendous value added for efficiency and profitability.
